Radica and Wired for Sound in new Visit London campaign
18-Mar-07
London was the venue for an outside broadcast with a difference on the 24th of April. Radica installed high quality radio links into two of The London Eye's revolving capsules. This allowed Texas’ KRLD Dallas and KPRC Houston a unique insight into London's most talked about attraction. The links, with talkback, allowed full presentation from The Eye’s capsules. Radio production and onward contribution was handled by Wired For Sound's state of the art mobile facility, The Radio Lounge.
RSL Manager, Richard Dudley-Smith, oversaw all aspects of the installation and coordinated the Radica engineers in attendance. Equipment was set up and tested prior to "on-air" with Radica continuing to give engineering support during the whole broadcast.
Sponsored by Visit London, this showcase event was aimed at attracting the North American public to visit the UK capital. Contributions were sent live to Houston and Dallas. Pre-recorded material for KABC Los Angeles, WMMZ Chicago and WQCD New York was packaged on-site using The Radio Lounge and then sent via ISDN back to the USA.
