The Local Radio Company (TLRC) operates nearly 30 local radio stations across the UK. The group has evolved through acquisitions and new licence bids to become one of the major players in UK local radio.
Around half of the transmitters in the group are owned outright by the local stations themselves, rather than run under expensive and often unnecessary contract. This approach helps keep costs down and ensures proprietary ownership of facilities by the Radio stations.
Radica monitors and maintains these facilities, ensuring continuity of service, and coherence and consistency in the care and maintenance of these independent transmission facilities. Our advanced telemetry systems enable central monitoring of transmitter operations, and provides a planned programme of maintenance and upgrades.
Radica provides emergency support on an as-required basis, with no annual retainers or tie-ins to expensive rolling contracts. We also provide annual preventative maintenance testing, Ofcom compliance checks, performance assessment, and recommendations for improvement and enhancement.
Radica also implements the design, planning and installation of new transmission systems when they are required. Radica's services have benefited the group by giving cost-effective support to the network, as well as overall improvements in performance and reliability. "We are delighted by the efficient and reliable service Radica offers us" says Ken Rayner, Head of Technology at TLRC.
